Hospitalist needed within 35 minutes of Denver, CO

New Hospitalist program is building a team of 6 physicians to start to help start their program.  The hospital is 80 beds and is very new – opened its doors in 2007.  The physical plant is very nice and has a stunning view of the Front Range.  The physicians will dedicate their services to the second floor (three story facility) where there is a 16 bed ICU combined with a step down unit along with 28 medical surgical beds.  A daily census of approximately 24-30 patients in anticipated, therefore the census per physician will be 12-15 encounters/day.  The schedule will be 7 on/7 off. 

The hospital is expanding services – opening a dialysis unit, expanding cardiac cath capabilities, etc. – in order to be able to serve the medical community.  The hospitalists will have to have a comfort level managing the patients in the ICU as there is currently only one intensivist on staff.  That means that Hospitalists will need to be able to perform procedures including but not limited to:

-          paracentisis

-          thoracentisis

-          lumbar puncture

-          managing the vents w/in 24 hours

-          central lines

The EMR system is Semiens but they are moving to the “Cadillac” version of this EMR (Sorrien) in the near future.
